Wilson, Verna Marguerite

We celebrate the life of Verna Marguerite Wilson (Willows) who passed on to another realm on October
23, 2019 at the age of 95. After a short physical decline in Sunnybrook Hospital, she slipped away
peacefully while sleeping, gracefully succumbing to pneumonia. Every one who knew her feels
very fortunate to have had her with us so long.

She was beloved of her children Rick (Arlene), Jim (Dot), Lorraine and Joanne; very dear to her
grandchildren, Jay (Kerri), Brian (Megan), Jodie (Patrick), Ian (Maryanne), Hilary (Jonathan), Sue (Sean),
and Tommy; and the caring great grandmother of Lauren, Darren, Elizabeth, Luke, Katie and Fionn.

Verna was predeceased by her husband George, her brother Charles and his wife Elma; and is survived
by her sister-in-law Ann and her nephew Bob (Audrey).

A lover of reading, travel, word puzzles and celebrations, she will be remembered as a strong, flexible
and understanding mother, a supportive friend to all, a fountain of wisdom, an extraordinary listener,
and for her unwavering positivity and smile.

Verna was a co-founder of the Huntsville Weavers and Spinners Guild and for several years the editor of
the magazine Heddle.  A homemaker by choice, she also worked as an Executive Assistant at Air Canada
and the Canadian Civil Liberties Union.

She lived independently until after her 95th birthday, maintaining a sharp mind and her positive attitude
to life. An example for us all, she accepted an increasing number of physical challenges over the years,
remaining delighted to be alive. She showed interest in and respect to everyone who came near her,
putting a smile on everyone’s face.

A service will be held in celebration of Verna’s well-lived life on Saturday November 2nd at
